About Me

Woman (Angini Mohammed) in Pink Shirt

Born in the Caribbean, I grew up in a community that was more collectivistic than individualistic. I learned about the values of Social Work (service, integrity, and compassion) from my Mentors, my Mother and Grandmother. Both were pillars in the community through their volunteering and service. They exemplified kindness, calmness and a non-judgmental approach to everyone they interacted with. It was from my experiences with them that I was led to Social Work and used it as a tool to overcome my own challenges of intergenerational trauma, medical trauma and violence.

Now, as a practitioner, I leverage the same kindness, calmness and non-judgmental approach when working with my clients. These characteristics have been foundational in my upbringing and have been incorporated into my professional practice. Most importantly, my reason for becoming a Social Worker is my love for the profession, the healing power of being heard and playing my part in Social Justice.
